Data Collection & Cookies
Your Personal Information
There are several places on the site where we collect your personal information. I’ll explain:
- who is collecting it
- what we collect, and why
- how we store & protect it
- how you can access/delete it
Who is collecting it?
Escape Creative, LLC owns and operates escapecreative.com, and is responsible for collecting your data. We, as well as several third-parties, are responsible for keeping it safe.
What we collect, and why
Purchase Information
If you purchase something from our website, we collect your:
- name
- email address
- billing address
- credit card information
We need this information in order to process your payment.
Your name, email & billing address are stored by our website, and kept secure on the Google Cloud Platform—the third-party we use to host our website. Learn more about Google Cloud Platform’s security.
Your name, billing address & credit card information are also sent to Stripe—our third-party payment processor. Learn about how Stripe keeps your data safe.
After making a purchase, an account will automatically be created for you. You will receive an email with instructions on how to reset your password. Your password is encrypted and stored securely on Google Cloud Platform’s servers.
Email Newsletters
Throughout the site, you can provide your email address to sign up for our newsletter. We store this information in our third-party email marketing platform, MailChimp. We send out occasional newsletters with information we think you might find helpful. You can unsubscribe at any time using a link in the newsletter, or email me and ask to be removed.
In MailChimp, we also track:
- which emails you receive, as well as which ones you open
- which links you click within those emails
- your preferred email client
- what type of content you’re most interested in receiving
We never share or sell your email address to anyone.
Website Comments
If you choose to leave a comment on one of our articles, we ask for your name & email address. We use this information to:
- create a more personal dialog between ourselves and our audience
- identify you as a real human, which helps us cut down on spam comments by robots
- potentially contact you in order to better answer a question or help you with a problem
This will always be a personal email sent from a human, and never a marketing message.
Online Course Data
If you’re enrolled in one of our online courses, we collect the following information:
- the courses in which you’ve enrolled
- your progress within those courses
We collect this information to make it easy for you to learn at your own pace, and keep track of where you are in the course. We might also send you reminder emails if you haven’t finished a course.
How do we store & protect your information?
For those on our mailing list, MailChimp handles all storage and protection of your data. You can read about MailChimp’s security policy & GDPR compliance directly on their website.
If you’ve provided your name and email address through a comment form on our site, we store that information on our web servers. Your information is protected in two ways:
- the security at the data centers of our third-party web host, Google Cloud Platform
- security measures we implement to prevent malicious attacks or login attempts on escapecreative.com
Your purchase information (name, billing address & credit card information) is protected by Stripe.
How to access or delete your information?
You can view most of your information from your account page. You must be logged in to view this page. Click the “Edit Profile” link to update your name, email address, billing information and password.
At any time, you can also request access to your information by emailing us and providing us with your name & email address. We will provide you with all personal data we have collected about you, or delete that information upon request.
Website Analytics
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to track aggregate web traffic statistics on escapecreative.com. We collect basic information about visits to the site, including, but not limited to: how the visitor found us, which pages were viewed & what actions were taken. We might also collect demographic information (age, gender) or your general interests. This information could have been gathered from your Google profile, videos you’ve watched on YouTube or previous ads you’ve interacted with. You can update your demographic & interest settings here. We do not collect any personally-identifiable information.
We use this information to learn how our audience is using the site, and where we should be focusing our efforts to make improvements. We may share general site statistics (total visitors, total pageviews, etc.) publicly, or with potential advertisers.
You can read more about Google’s Privacy Policy, or opt-out of being included in our stats.
Hotjar
We use Hotjar in order to better understand our visitor’s needs and try to optimize their experience. Hotjar is a technology service that helps us better understand our users experience (e.g. how much time they spend on which pages, which links they choose to click, what users do and don’t like, etc.) and this enables us to build and maintain our site with user input.
You can opt-out to the creation of a user profile, Hotjar’s storing of data about your usage of our site and Hotjar’s use of tracking cookies on other websites by following this link.

Affiliate Disclaimer
At Escape Creative, our #1 goal is, and always will be, to teach you WordPress. But we do need to make money in order to continue creating valuable content & tools.
Certain links throughout the site are affiliate links. If you decide to purchase a product or service via one of these links, we might receive a commission for referring you. Rest assured, this does not increase your cost. In fact, we hope to build partnerships so we can offer you discounts on commercial products.
We are always 100% truthful in our reviews & analysis, and will never recommend a service, theme or plugin that we don’t truly believe in.
Refund Policy
We’d be happy to discuss offering you a refund within 30 days of your initial purchase. Because of the nature of digital software, we do ask the following:
- You can prove how the plugin fails to do what it is intended to do
- You give us a chance to help you first
- You agree to completely delete all files associated with the plugin, and forfeit your right to use the code
❌ We do not provide refunds after the first 30 days of any purchase
❌ Renewal payments are not refundable. It is your responsibility to cancel your subscription before the renewal date.
If you live in a country in the EU, under EU rules, you have the right to cancel and return your order within 14 days, for any reason and without a justification, and receive a full refund. This only applies to initial orders, not renewal payments.
Refund Fee
Both of the payment processors we use (Stripe & PayPal) charge us a processing fee even for refunded transactions. Therefore, we reserve the right to hold onto a small fee and refund you the remaining amount.
